Shuttle And Trails Info
Black Stump Shuttle
The Black Stump is the name of the main shuttle drop off point for riding the main Derby trails. The bus ride is a 10min drive up a gravel road to were you will ride backdown through spectacular forest past huge ferns, idyllic waterfalls and endless sweeping berms.
Trail Lengths – 500 metres – 10 km
Grades – Green (easy), Blue (Intermediate), Black and Double Black (Advanced)
Trail Ride Times – 10 min to 2 hrs
Trails Start – From either the main trail head or from the Black Stump drop off.
Finish – All trails eventually wind there way down to finish at the main trail head at Derby.
Itinerary
09:00 am – 4.00pm The first shuttle departs from the Derby main trail head at 9am then approx. every 30 minutes until the last shuttle departs at 4pm.
What to Take
Most of the trails (but not all) that you ride from the Black Stump drop of point are relatively close to the town so only minimal safety equipment and spares are needed. As a general rule you should at least have;
- Bike in good working order,
- Water,
- Snacks,
- Basic tools,
- Repair kit,
- Wind jacket,
- Phone (some reception)
- Basic first aid kit.
Please Note
- The first shuttle departs at 9am and the last at 4pm from the shuttle bus car park at the main trail head at Derby.
- Practice good trail etiquette, Leave no trace and ride to your ability.
- Basic trail grades: Green (easy), Blue (intermediate) and Black (hard).
- All day Black Stump shuttle passes can not be transferred to another person.
- 7 day a week service.
